Sorry I haven't blogged for ages, I'm too bloody lazy to.  This is my latest painting and, in case you're wondering, it's an orange.  Now I don't get on too well with citrus fruit, there are probably a couple on here somewhere that are complete disasters.  I have approached this one very differently as I am determined not be beaten by an orange.  I am doing this in layers of colour, all dry brushed in, have ruined 3 brushes so far.  I am really happy with it now and maybe the "can't do citrus fruit" thing might be coming to an end (although I won't hold my breath).

So I have been set a challenge, someone has asked me to paint a car for them.  This is the one they wanted (well I hope it is).  I almost hyperventilated when I was asked but then thought that I should at least try to do it.  Treat it like a still life but instead of having the object in front of me I am using a photograph for reference.  I have to confess the more I have done on it the more I have enjoyed it too, the picture below doesn't look like I'm enjoying it I know but I was concentrating at the time.  This is in oil and is quite large.

New drawing of 2 soldiers, I have just added this one to the new page.  One

Hello Everyone, I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and I'm sending you all my best wishes for a very happy new year.

I would like to thank everyone for making comments on my posts here too, I really appreciate that but am having a little bit of trouble thanking you on the post as it will not let me do that.  Hey ho, at least I've done it here now.

I would also like you to know that I have started a new page of pencil drawings, I've been going a bit mad with them since discovering the pencil.  Take a look, it's the page before this one.  I have found a way of doing them that suits me and I'm trying to get lots of practise in so that they are right.  My method is to use the pencil for all the main lines and marks and then use a brush for the shading (I usually dip it in the pencil

I have decided to put myself in the pictures, this is just to show the size of these paintings as it is difficult to tell with just measurements sometimes.  I have so pleased with how these are looking now.  The frames are gorgeous, contemporary but with some detail in them.  Both paintings match as they are in the same frame but opposite in colour.  Another thing that has happened is that the framer has varnished these for me, mainly because I am useless at it.  He sprays them

This is me, I am not very photogenic it's true, that's why it is a very rare photograph.  I love this image and that's why I have painted it.  The lady's name is Louise Brookes and she is from a bygone age.  This portrait is much larger than the usual ones I do and it is the same size as the other portraits shown below, so that gives you an idea of the scale of them.  This lady is wearing a string of pearls and they were a complete nightmare to do, I set in the same position (that's an age thing).

I am thinking of doing some prints of these, what do you think, would anyone want them?  That's what worries me really but my husband is pushing that one along.  I might yet be spotted pushing them on street corners yet, should be fun.

This is the latest one and it is a work in progress.  I started it on 14 September and today I have been blocking in all the colour.  It is oil on canvas and is 80 x 60cm.  I still have some work to do on it yet.

This is " I am Woman II", oil on canvas and 90 x 70cm.  This is one of the first portraits that I have done that I have been quite happy with 'ish.

Oh dear, guess who hasn't updated her website for ages?  Just looked at the stats and for some reason I got over 2500 hits on March 21, how strange.  This is one of my latest paintings, I'm hoping that you can tell it's an orange, hence the title.  I've done a few others and I will put them below this........<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/"

Yes it's a cabbage and it is my latest painting.  I have been working on this at Gallery 150 in Leamington Spa.  I still have a little more to do with it, it doesn't have any shaded bits yet or highlights plus I have to tidy up some of the rough edges.  I have only used 2 colours and they are sap green and alkyd white (oh a little bit of raw umber on that small amount of background you can see).

Below is a photograph that I took today, it is the hand of a former squadie,  I think it speaks volumes but you might not agree.
