Started another one and this one is really tiny, only 3"x6", about the size of a postcard and on board.  One of the biggest problems I have had is that the board was not properly gessoed so the board immediately sucked all of the moisture out of the paint, it really dried quick though.  The paint acted in a totally different way to how it does normally and I had to blend it really quickly before it went off.  I am going to do a little more work on it, I think it could do with another layer.  Colours used are the same as I used for the eggshells, titanium white, burnt umber and raw umber.

Sometimes I just cant understand why these computer things do something totally different to what they normally do, it's probably me but dont know how I do that.  Have just put 2 new finished offerings in to the gallery on here and, despite in real life they are smaller than a lot of the others, they have ended up much bigger.  I suppose it could be something to do with the size of the photo but, I thought, I always took the same size photo.  Anyway back to business, I've finished, I cannot do any more layers on this because it will start driving me mad.  As you could see, doing the previous ones it didn't actually look much different.  I have still only kept to the 3 colours and have added some white highlights.  Hope you are all having a good day. Bye for now.

Basically I have done exactly the same as I did yesterday.  Another layer of burnt umber, raw umber and white added.  The only thing I am finding with this one is that I have to do the whole painting, including the background, in layers.  I dont normally have to do that, just leave the background till the end or do it right at the start.  I think it might be because the bottom of the shells has to blend in with the background.  The inside of the shell is still a bit of a mare to do, I can now see that the one in the foreground and to the right looks almost square so I will have to change that when I do more tomorrow.  So see you again tomorrow in that case.

I hope that you all had a great weekend, I went camping for the first time in about 5 years, I really enjoyed it.

All I have done to this is added another layer of paint over the top of the previous one.  I am only using three colours and I dont think I will need to use any other colours at all.  The three are burnt umber, raw umber and white.  The background is raw umber not black.  When I looked at the photo I realised that I had got the shade slightly wrong on the left hand side shell so, when I add another layer tomorrow, I will move it round.  I thought this might be a nice easy one to do, I'm always wrong, it's quite difficult to get the colour right on the inside of the shell.  Never mind I will persevere and hopefully it will end up ok.  See you all tomorrow, toodle-pip!

A new painting started today, hence it looks a bit rough (that's because it is).  I was in the South of France just recently and fell in love with one of the local artists work, Nelly Trummel, she did all still life and of every day things like egg shells, potatoes, carrots etc.  So I have borrowed the idea from her and am doing my own egg shell painting.  Colours used at the moment are white, burnt umber and raw umber.  I am now going camping for the weekend so wont be putting anything on for a couple of days.  Have a good weekend and will write again on Monday.

That's it I can't do anymore to it, it's taking too long and the more it gets messed with the more it gets messed so I have decided to leave it at this.  All I have done is added white highlights to the grapes and also added more sap green to give more depth.  I think it needs more shadows putting in and I might do them in a couple of days.  I did start another one today too and I will put that on tomorrow.

Today I have been adding some colour to the hand and haven't touched the grapes at all.  They are still a little bit too tacky to do anything with at the moment, tomorrow they will probably be dry enough to work on.  I am trying to remember what colours I have used in the hand............titanium beige, titanium white, burnt umber, raw umber, alzarin crimson, yellow ochre and prussian blue.  I will come back to this tomorrow to remind myself what colours I used.  I do have to add some colour to the wrinkly bit near the grapes but I cant do that until today's is dry because when I tried it, it started to muddy a bit too much.  That's all for now and be back tomorrow.

I haven't got much more done on this today because I went to a meeting today with the CWSA, which was very good.  They had an artist there showing us how he uses acrylics and he was very good too.  After that I had to go and do a bit of shopping, the fridge was quite empty really, then did more domestic stuff when I got home.  I didn't sit in front of this until 4pm so it has only had an hour.  All I have done is added another green layer to the grapes and then not all of them, I can see one that's not been touched.  Hopefully tomorrow I will have a lot longer to work on it and will be adding some colour to the hand.

Day 4 of this painting.  I have added another couple of layers of sap green blended with titanium white on to the grapes.  I have also been added highlights in titanium beige to the hand but still have not done anything more to the thumb as yet.  I could not do anything with it yesterday because it was too sticky so I had a day off.

I've been working on it all afternoon and I have started to reduce down the amount of wrinkles that I put in yesterday (I said that I had got a bit carried away with them).  The grapes have had another layer of sap green and white blended together using stand oil.  The hand I am doing in titanium cream and raw umber.  I will add little bits of colour right at the end and also more shadow.  At the moment I am trying to build up the depth so it will stay this strange looking colour for now.    The thumb has not changed at all since yesterday so is still monotone.  As per usual I have started in the wrong place and been working up which means that I will have to work on it upside down in a few minutes.
