I seem to be only doing work on this one during the night, dont know why that is.  All I have done is added more layers of white to the cup and saucer. lightened the colour of the coffee and added some more bubbles to edge.  When I was stirring it yesterday I only noticed the ones in the middle but last night I spotted there were some more at the edge.  Still battling to keep it round and the same size.

I started this last night, it's just a cup of coffee, you can tell I kinda ran out of ideas really.  I still have some more to do, for one thing I have to try and straighten it up.  The more I did on it the less round it became, it also got bigger.  I liked doing the bubbly bits in the middle.  To know what this looked like I had to keep stirring it up with the end of my paint brush.

Anyway something more exciting that I managed to do, after weeks and weeks of trying, was to add a link to my Facebook page on my home page.  I only really know the basics of computering so this was to be my ultimate challenge and this morning I achieved it.  I am still trying to find out how to put the "Like" button on it though.  What a day!!

P.S  If you click on Home at the top of this page you will find it at the bottom of that page.  I'd love to have some more friends on there too, if you want that is, all you have to do is click on the "Wendy Cook" that's just above the picture.

I think it might be finished but I will look at it again after the weekend and decide whether I need to do anymore.  I haven't put any writing on the label at all, dont want to advertise for the company now do I?  I added a few more highlights and haven't dared put in any of the low lights.  If I do anymore to it on Monday it will be the low lights, which I still think it needs.  I also started another new one today and that is a cup of coffee, I am hoping to drop a lump of sugar in that (on the canvas) and I will get a little more done before I put it on here.  Have a great Bank Holiday weekend folks, dont do anything I wouldn't (that does leave you with a fair bit of scope though).

It's almost finished just got to put on some low and highlights but I can't do that until it's totally dry.  I have added colour to the lid, the ring pull and the can today.  The blue of the label was really quite hard to find, I mixed Prussian blue with sap green then a little white, tried all sorts of combinations prior to that one.  Also I have to confess to not being able to paint writing so I had to come up with a way around that one.  Ended up tearing the label off partially so that it covered most of it up.  Below is a photo of the stage just before this where I had marked out where the label was to go and put some of the colour on to the lid.

Blimey this has been such a drag, doing each bean all afternoon.  It has actually been quite difficult to get the right colour for them, I have been messing about with orange, burnt umber and white.  Beans are not pure orange regrettably.  Also my subject has started to leak all over the place, all I can smell now is beans (kept thinking it was the painting).  Goodness knows what the studio will be like when I fetch that mackerel out of the freezer to paint it.  Hopefull tomorrow I will be able to add some colour to the tin, I am expecting the beans to be dry too as I mixed liqu

This is the one that I started today, I did start one yesterday but I decided to ditch it because I can't seem to start to like it.  This one is going to be ok, I hope.  At the moment it is just monotone as it is just the start.  Tomorrow I will start to add the thin layers of colours to it.  It is done in oils and the only colours I have used are raw umber and titanium white.  I still have to line up the end of the can as it's not quite right but it should be easy enough to do.

Day 3 of this painting and I think it's about done.  I have added some darker edges around the bite and a little more titanium white where highlights needed to go.  I have also added a little dribble to the bottom of the bit, I think you can only just see it in the photo.  Sorry about the poor photo again but my camera really doesn't like taking pics of these latest paintings.  I could look in the instructions for the camera but that would be going against everything that I believe in.

There will not be any updates on here now until Monday 23 August as I am away sailing out of Torquay, so see you all then, hope you have a great weekend and week.

My camera really does not like taking a photo of this painting, I cant get rid of noise on it, probably something to do with the contrasts I dont know.  Anyway, yesterday I carried on puttin layers of sap green, raw umber and titanium white on to the pear.  All of these colours were blended on the canvas and using liquin as a medium (makes it dry quick).  This morning, however, I looked at it and was happy enough with the way it was looking but, as a painting, I thought it was pretty boring really.  I then decided that, in order to add a bit of interest, I would take a bite out of it.  the problem was that as I started to put on the white where the bite mark was supposed to be, I could have destroyed the whole thing and ended up binning it.  Amazingly I think it is working.  I still have a few more layers to add, both to the outside of the pear and to the bite and will,m

I wont rest until I've done all the fruit in the bowl!!  Not really but I do seem to have a bit of a theme going on here.  This is day 1 of a pear and once again I forgot to photograph it as I went along.  It has hardly any paint on really except for the background which is done in raw umber and quite thickly.  The pear itself is done in raw umber and white really well watered down.  All I wanted to do was to find the shape of it then I will start to build up the layers of colours tomorrow.  I'm thinking that there will probably be 4 or 5 colours used in the body but I will tell you tomorrow if that ends up the case.  Once again I did not start with a sketch but just blended the shape from the background colour.

I think I have nearly finished the banana now, I have to leave it for a couple of days for the layers to dry off because I am using yellow.  All I am doing is adding some details to the inside of the banana and another layer of yellow to the skin.  I still have to put some detail on to the inside of the skin and, when it's all dry, will add some shadow.  I have also put another layer of paint on to the giant eggshells but I wont put that on at the moment it's sitting in the wrong position to photograph and a bit too big to shift around whilst it's wet.

PS I have changed the yellow colour to Cadium yellow hue rather than the Naples yellow that I used before.  There is only a thin layer added each time and it's being blended with raw umber.
