Have also started this one which is, a glass of red wine, I was asked to do wine by someone and that's what I'm doing.  A very simple painting indeed.  This is being done in layers of very thin washes, still more layers to go so I will keep you up to date on it's progress.

Got up nice and early this morning and did some more work to this portrait.  I am now highlighting certain areas with white paint.  That left eye still is wrong but I'm not too worried about as most of it will be covered with hair.  I think I've overdone the highlight a bit and this has given him the Marty Feldman look.  The mouth also needs more work but I cant continue until it's completely dry so next time I put it up on here, hopefully, it will be finished.

I think I might be in danger of losing everything on this page too, I must be careful I think.
Today I had to take my husband to Birmingham Airport to catch a flight to Geneva, on the way back I took a wrong turn.  Well not a wrong turn really more getting in the wrong lane.  Couldn't get out of it as too much traffic so ended up on the M42 heading for the South West.  I didn't panic as any other person might do, I just carried on thinking "well not much to do, I'll go the long way round".  Which is exactly what I did do, go the long way round, and didn't get home till almost 11am.  Not a good start to the weekend really but hey ho, that's life.
This is as far as I've got with my Iggy.  I am now putting for definition into the face.  He's got a perfect face for painting I think, all craggy and well used.   Still only using raw umber and white as it seems to go with his style, (my opinion).  I know one eye appears to be bigger than the other but I'm not going to do anything about it as his hair will cover the right side of his face anyway.

The other ones need to dry so I've had to start another.  This in the process of being built up in layers of paint.  Only two colours are being used and that is raw umber and white.  Still got some way to go, he's got no eyeballs yet and the nose has got to be sorted out.  Once again I have got to let this one dry before I can carry on so I will be starting yet another this afternoon.

I started to continue with this piece today at about 9.30am.  Now it's 2.oopm and this is as far as I have got.  I have also managed to destroy one brush in completing it so far.  I haven't worked at all on the body or face just doing his jeans at the mo.  This is really unusual for me because I cant stand fiddley work preferring to get it done very quickly.  Still I will persevere and hopefully it will be ok when I've finished.  I know when I resume work on the body I am going to have to move the positioning of the left breast because that's not quite right.
I haven't been out at all today because we are having heavy snow, thank goodness I still have enough provisions in to cover us for dinner tonight.  I have also just received notification that work for The Herbert Gallery Open is due in March so I now have to pick three paintings to submit for that.  I hope I'm as lucky as I was for Rugby and manage to get one in there.

Was woken up at 6.30am today with my own coughing (the remnants of a cold over Christmas) so got up and decided to start on the 2nd painting that I am doing of Iggy Pop.  The 1st one is full face and there is no point in my putting that on here because you can hardly see it, it's so dark, so I've spared you.  This is just underpainted using raw umber and a small amount of titanium beige, I sketch in these two colours as they dry quite quickly and I like the tones they give.
Now I am going to ready myself for coffee in Leamington with my freinds.  This is a daily activity as you will probably see if you keep up with the blogs.  See you all later going for a shower.

Well it's now 4.30pm and this is as far as I have got today.  I'll keep going because I'm quite enjoying it now.  Hope you can see where it's going.

Getting used to this site now, seems I can now manage to put another piece on without wiping out everything else.  I got lots more work done on this painting yesterday, I know from the pics it doesn't look that different, but another layer has beeen added.
I have just got back from Leamington town centre, urgh it's getting really slushy and dirty down there, flooding next folks as all this snow melts.  Only nearly fell over the once which taught me to take smaller steps than my usual gait.  Town centre not busy at all again, think people must be heeding warnings and staying at home.
I am just about to start on another new painting whilst this one dries.  The new one is going to be a portrait of Iggy Pop who, I think, has a wonderful face for painting.  Hopefully I will be able to do him justice.

This is the painting that I am working on at the moment.  I started with a raw umber wash all over the canvas then a very basic sketch with off white paint.  Once everything is lined up and perspective is kinda right (in my eyes anyway) I will leave that to dry over night before starting with the layers.  Once dry I will start to scumble layers of oil paint, without any medium, in to the portrait to build up depth.  These first layers are usually done just in raw umber mixed with the off white.  The portrait appears to be black and white.  Once this has dried I then start to scumble layers of colour on to the painting.  This painting has got some of it's colour worked in and is now ready for more layers to be added as it is sufficiently dry.  That is what I am about to do so I will update later with todays work.

This is getting really silly, I've been making this very basic and amateurish site all day, I've already typed one blog but it disappeared so I written this very short one again.
