I have only managed to get one more layer on since Saturday as I had to visit a friend today.  Have to do that sometimes it's not good to forget about them.    I have left the shoulders with only the one layer of paint on as I want them to stay well in the background.  The legs and arms, on the other hand, need to come out of the painting so they are having the most work done to them.  I also ran out of space, if I planned a little better it wouldn't happen, so I have had to make her curl her toes so that they could fit in.  Still only two colours on it titanium white and raw umber.

I got up at 6.30 this morning and did a lot of work on this painting, then had to take my husband to the airport so didn't get back on to it until late this afternoon.  I now have to wait for this layer to dry before I can put another on.  Still only using the two colours as I am trying to build up the depth.  I'm definately going to stop now because I can hardly see I'm so tired.  This mdf stuff is really hard to work on

This is the painting that I was on about yesterday, it has been causing many, many problems for me.  First of all I was going from an image that I had but the perspective was all wrong yesterday so I couldn't put it on here.  Today I asked my daughter if she would "strike the pose" for me (she was dressed) and it has now started to look much better.  I am also using a different surface, mdf, which is not that brilliant because of the way that I use the oil paint.  I have primed the mdf using oil primer and the surface is so smooth it has no "tooth" and the paint just smears about.  What I have ended up doing is using it almost the same consistency as water colour.  Only two colours on here at the moment and those are my usual for underpainting titanium white and raw umber.  Also the left arm is still not quite right but I cant alter that until this layer is dry.  This one is much bigger than I have been doing of late

I have been working, just not been loading up any photos on here.  My site has been having a few problems, just little gliches so I thought that I would wait until they all got sorted out before trying to add any more.  I have started this new oil, called Cream Tea.  I am adding the colours on in layers and, I think this is the third layer but a lot more will have to be added before I will be happy with the depth, at the moment it isn't quite right.  Colours used are Permanent Alzarin Crimson, titanium white, yellow ochre, burnt and raw umber.  I have also started another one which is huge and I am hoping to add that one tom

We went to Torquay at the weekend and, on the way there, on Friday evening we saw the most stunning sunsets.  This one to the left is the sky that was ahead of us as we got to the M5 just past Evesham.  If you look closely at the photos you can just make out what looks like 3 or 4 tornadoes between the cloud systems, it was the most incredible sight.
Below are more images of that one and the a photo fo the sunset that was taken just prior to these on the outskirts of Stratford Upon Avon.
